Job Description:
Our client, an environmental consultation group, is seeking a Manager: Mining and Environmental Hydrogeology, who will be responsible for studying the distribution, flow and quality of water underground, making recommendations, providing advice and managing a team of Hydrogeologists. The successful candidate will be required to work in close collaboration with specialists from other disciplines. In addition to this, the individual will be required to grow the business and develop new services for the department.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate field campaigns to collect data relating to the hydrocensus data, hydrogeological setting, aquifer hydraulic properties, groundwater levels/quality data and/or mine dewatering requirements.
- Interpreting technical data and information from fieldwork and other relevant sources such as historical documents and maps to build conceptual models for groundwater flow and quality.
- Designing and completing investigations (which may include groundwater measurements/sampling or an ongoing monitoring regime) in order to confirm or further develop hydrogeological models.
- Using numerical and analytical modelling techniques to make predictions for future trends and impacts on groundwater flows and quality.
- Delivering ‘best practice’ environmental standards, where needed in consultation with relevant government agencies and/or to the client’s requirements.
- Work in close collaboration with specialists from other disciplines.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill
- B.Sc. degree (M.Sc. preferred) in hydrogeology.
- Eight or more years’ experience in the relevant field, preferably within the consulting environment.
- At least five years working in the resources industry.
- Two or more years’ experience managing a small team would be beneficial.
- Must have a driver’s licence.
- Professional registration would be beneficial. (e.g. SACNASP).
- Strong understanding and practical experience with environmental and water legislation.
- Proven experience in project management of complex water processes.
- Proven experience in managing a Project team.
- Strong interpersonal skills (build rapport etc.).
- Excellent communication skills (Both verbal and written).

- B.Tech or equivalent tertiary qualification in Health and Safety (NEBOSH Certification).
- IMS Facilitation / Auditors qualification (ISO 9001,ISO 45001 & ISO 14001).
- Registered as Construction Health and Safety Manager with SACPCMP.
