Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced HSE Principal to provide specialist leadership and technical expertise across Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) management. The successful candidate will report directly to the SHEQ Manager and will be responsible for developing, implementing, monitoring and continuously improving HSE systems across project and contractor operations. The role will play a key part in ensuring compliance with legal and company requirements, managing critical risks, strengthening contractor HSE performance, as well as promoting a proactive safety culture through effective risk management, assurance, coaching and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:

• Provide visible HSE leadership and act as a role model across project and contractor operations.
• Support the implementation of the Project HSE Strategy and HSE Management System.
• Provide specialist HSE advice and guidance to project management, supervisors, and contractors.
• Monitor compliance with applicable legislation, regulations, permits and company standards.
• Facilitate risk assessments, HAZIDs, JSAs, THAs, and critical control verification activities.
• Monitor critical risks and ensure that effective controls are implemented and maintained.
• Support the development and maintenance of risk registers and lead initiatives to improve critical risk management performance.
• Evaluate contractor HSE capability during tendering and mobilisation, and review contractor HSE Management Plans and procedures.
• Monitor contractor HSE compliance through inspections, audits, and performance reviews.

Qualification and Skill:

• Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Professional HSE qualification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, OHS certification, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 8–10 years’ experience in HSE.
• At least 5 years’ experience within mining, construction, heavy industry, or major projects.
• Proven experience managing contractor HSE performance.
• Experience facilitating risk assessments, HAZIDs, JSAs, THAs, and critical control verification.
• Experience with incident investigation, root cause analysis, corrective action management, and HSE performance reporting.
