CA Mining was invited to the Oliver Kahn Safe-Hub Gugulethu-Manenberg premises on Monday 12th December 2022 to host a job readiness workshop. Safe-Hub is designed to disrupt cycles of poverty, unemployment, and inequality, especially for young people growing up in disadvantaged communities. CA Mining is excited to enter this collaboration and looks forward to building a long-term relationship and making a positive impact on these communities.
The team, Mitchill Wernich, Christo Van Der Ham and Nuraan Marlie thoroughly enjoyed engaging with the youth, coaches, and mentors from across the western cape. The team’s main aim was to provide guidance on how to increase their online visibility to hiring managers, to understand the strategy needed behind effective job hunting and provide the tools for them to confidently approach companies online.
The Safe-Hub team graciously allowed CA Mining to take a few pictures during the day. (See album below)
What the Workshop Entailed
The team covered some vital aspects of job hunting, and the ins and outs of managing their online presence optimally:
- The importance of and how to build an online presence to attract hiring managers and/ or recruiters.
- How to approach job hunting.
- Using various job search platforms.
- How to directly approach companies through LinkedIn and deal with recruitment agencies.
A Q&A session after the training allowed the youth to receive clarity on some of the career topics discussed. Everyone seemed well-engaged, and team thoroughly enjoyed being able to work so closely with the youth.
