Job Description:

Our client, a major uranium mining company, is seeking an experienced Packaging Supervisor to join their operations at a uranium mine in Malawi. Reporting to the Processing department, the successful candidate will provide leadership across all product packaging and stewardship activities, ensuring uranium product is safely packaged, weighed, sampled, labelled, stored and prepared for outbound logistics. The role will oversee packaging operators while ensuring full compliance with radiation safety, environmental regulations, statutory requirements and company procedures, working closely with Processing, Logistics, HSE, Radiation Safety, Security, Laboratory and Supply Chain teams.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise packaging operators and coordinate all daily drumming, weighing, packaging, labelling, sampling, storage and containerisation activities.
• Ensure all product handling and packaging activities are conducted safely and in compliance with site procedures, radiation safety standards, environmental regulations and statutory requirements.
• Maintain accurate batch, drum, weight, sample, seal, container and inventory records to ensure complete product traceability.
• Coordinate with Processing, Logistics, HSE, Radiation Safety, Security, Laboratory and Supply Chain departments to ensure product readiness for shipment.
• Monitor packaging materials, drums, containers, labels, seals and consumables, ensuring sufficient stock availability and escalating shortages where required.
• Maintain packaging trackers, product readiness reports and shipment status updates while identifying and resolving operational bottlenecks.
• Ensure packaging documentation, permits, authorisations and shipping records are completed accurately and maintained in accordance with company procedures.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimise packaging processes, product stewardship and operational efficiency.

Qualification and Skill:

• Minimum MSCE (Malawi School Certificate of Education) or equivalent qualification.
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, Mineral Processing or a related discipline will be advantageous.
• Proven experience within mining, mineral processing, packaging, logistics, warehousing or product handling operations.
• Previous supervisory experience leading operators within a plant, packaging or logistics environment.
• Strong understanding of drumming, weighing, labelling, inventory control, batch traceability, sampling and product stewardship processes.
