Job Description:

Our client, a leading international shipping and logistics group operating across Africa, is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to join their operations in Dakar, Senegal.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and developing the country logistics operation, overseeing freight forwarding, customs clearance, shipping agency activities, and customer relationships while ensuring operational excellence, commercial growth, and compliance across all logistics functions.

Responsibilities:

• Lead day-to-day freight forwarding, customs clearance, shipping agency and logistics operations.
• Manage customer relationships and support business development initiatives.
• Ensure efficient coordination of imports, exports, transit shipments and port operations.
• Develop relationships with customs authorities, port stakeholders, shipping lines and clients.
• Manage operational budgets and logistics costs while driving profitability.
• Lead, mentor and develop local operational teams.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, local regulations and industry standards.
• Monitor service delivery performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
• Prepare operational and management reports.
• Drive health, safety, quality and environmental standards across operations.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, Business Administration, International Trade or a related field.
• FIATA, CILT, APICS or other professional logistics qualifications will be advantageous.
• Minimum 5–10 years' experience in freight forwarding, shipping, customs clearing, logistics or supply chain operations.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a management role.
• Proven experience managing logistics operations within West Africa.
• Strong commercial and customer relationship management capabilities.
• Sound understanding of customs regulations, freight forwarding processes and port operations.
• Strong financial acumen and budget management experience.
• Professional working proficiency in French is essential.
• Advanced Microsoft Office and logistics systems experience.
• Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
