Job Description:

Our client, a founder-led African investment holding group with interests across the mining and industrial sectors, is seeking a Group Chief Financial Officer based at its head office in Johannesburg. Reporting to the Director, the successful candidate will lead group finance across the holding company and its portfolio companies, drive capital raising and deal structuring, and build the financial systems and governance needed as the group grows to its next level.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the group finance function across the holding company and portfolio companies, including the Group Financial Manager and finance team.
• Lead capital raising across equity, debt and development finance, and build strong relationships with international DFIs, banks and investors.
• Structure and execute acquisitions, investments and funding transactions, including financial modelling, valuations and due diligence.
• Own group consolidation and reporting, delivering accurate monthly management accounts and annual consolidated financial statements under IFRS.
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and treasury management across the group.
• Strengthen financial controls, governance and systems across the portfolio as the group scales.
• Manage audit, tax and statutory compliance, and report to the board, shareholders and funders.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Qualified CA(SA) or equivalent. MBA or CFA advantageous.
• Minimum 10 years' post-articles experience, with at least 5 years in a CFO, Financial Director or senior group finance role.
• Proven capital raising experience, including structuring and closing equity and debt funding.
• Experience working with international development finance institutions (DFIs) is essential.
• Strong group consolidation experience across multiple entities under IFRS.
• Strong mining experience preferred, ideally within a mining house, mining investment or mining and industrial services business. Exposure to other African markets advantageous.
• A commercially minded, hands-on leader who is comfortable in a fast-growing, founder-led environment.
