Job Description:


The Business Development Executive will be responsible for driving new business development and revenue growth. This includes identifying new opportunities, securing new clients, and expanding services within existing accounts across South Africa and the broader African market. The ideal candidate is a Metallurgical Engineer with strong technical expertise and a proven ability to operate in a commercial, client-facing capacity.


 


Responsibilities:


  • Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within the mining and mineral processing sectors across Africa
  • Develop and maintain a structured business development pipeline, implementing target market penetration and client acquisition strategies.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with key decision-makers, including Metallurgical Managers, Plant Managers, Technical Directors, COOs, and CEOs, particularly within junior and mid-tier mining companies.
  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and exhibitions, including Mining Indaba and regional mining forums, to enhance market presence and generate business opportunities.
  • Generate qualified leads through networking, referrals, industry engagement, and direct client interaction, converting opportunities into long-term business partnerships.
  • Manage and expand existing client accounts by fostering strong relationships, ensuring client satisfaction, and driving repeat business through strategic account management.
  • Identify and develop opportunities for additional revenue streams through plant upgrades, process optimization initiatives, capacity expansions, and other value-added solutions aligned with client requirements.
  • Engage regularly with clients to understand operational challenges and business objectives, collaborating with internal technical and operational teams to develop tailored solutions and proposals.
  • Prepare and deliver technical and commercial proposals, conduct site visits and assessments, and support commercial negotiations through to successful contract award and project handover.
  • Monitor market developments across key commodities, including gold and copper, identifying emerging opportunities in modular processing plants, tailings retreatment, and remote or off-grid processing solutions
  • Analyze competitor activity and industry trends across the African mining sector, providing strategic market intelligence and recommendations to support business growth and market positioning.
  • Maintain accurate records of all business development activities, including leads, client engagements, site visits, opportunities, conversion metrics, and revenue forecasts, while providing regular pipeline and performance reports to management.


 


Requirements: Qualification and Skill


  • Bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering with 5–10 years’ experience in mineral processing, metallurgy, business development, sales, or client relationship management.
  • Strong technical knowledge of gold and copper processing flowsheets, crushing, milling, flotation, leaching, and gravity recovery systems.
  • experience across African mining jurisdictions being highly advantageous.
