Job Description:


The Transport Operations Manager will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling the activities for the inbound, outbound and distribution departments in the Logistics and Supply chain industry.


 


Responsibilities:


  • Managing daily operations of the route and bulk distribution activities to ensure that people and equipment levels meet service requirements and are employed efficiently
  • Ensure the highest level of service is provided to internal, external customers and stakeholders driving performance to meet contracted service level KPI’s
  • Act as a senior point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders
  • Review weekly commercials identifying errors and significant variations from budget, and direct/initiate remedial action.
  • Responsible for a structured approach to continuously improve the business
  • Plan and implement various other processes in line with the KPI and contractual obligations.
  • Ensure Transport operation processes are followed in operations and admin.
  • Maintain and update various reports in line with KPI and contractual obligations.
  • Compiling of reports & spreadsheets as per SOP's.
  • Appropriate management of costs, assets, employees, and processes such as service level costs, overtime costs, account costs.
  • Adherence to current service level agreements.
  • Initiating and implementing performance management of staff.
  • Manage and reporting of Distribution orders of 3PL/4PL
  • Manage and reporting of linehaul orders of 3PL/4PL
  • Comprehensive understanding in warehousing with experience
  • 3PL and 4PL supplier management, managed tender projects
  • ICT system related experience in TMS and WMS (not as users), knowing how to set up between systems for structures, functions, and correlations, particularly for 3PL and 4PL.
  • Conducting regular performance reviews to evaluate each line performance and identify growth
  • Manage customer's consignee’s relationships and provide effective communication to ensure on time, cost efficient deliveries
  • Accounting for all movements of orders for distribution network and generate reporting mechanism reviews


 


Requirements:


  • Tertiary Education: Diploma / Degree in Logistics or Warehouse Management.
  • Computer Literacy Level: MS Suite, SAP– Intermediate
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Logistics and /or Transportation with 3PL.
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory/managerial experience.
