Job Description:

Our client is a global leader in mining, and they are seeking a Mine Planning Manager to join their team tasked with providing technical leadership and direction to their African operations. In this role you will lead a team of high performing engineers that provide support to Company operations in Africa. to support the growth and development of their global Portfolio to be based at their Johannesburg Office.

Responsibilities:

• You will lead a team of mining engineers that provide support to Africa operations, and you will also be tasked with:
• Providing leadership to asset optimisation studies and life of asset (LoA) planning
• Providing leadership for definition and reporting of mineral resource and ore reserves
• Ensuring Technology and Operational Excellence improvements are incorporated in asset optimization studies
• Providing discipline leadership for professional development and competency for the mining engineers in the Johannesburg team and the African assets
• Supporting and leading reviews of site and project technical services processes
• Supporting studies and development projects with mine planning services
• Supporting internal toll date reviews for operations and projects

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mine Engineering or related engineering degree
• Be an outstanding leader, influencer, and relationship builder
• At least 15 years of experience in open cut and underground metals mining
• Good mine planning software skills, key packages including Deswik, Whittle, and Xeras
• Have proven analytical and problem-solving skills
• Experience in completing due diligence studies and independent peer reviews
• Excellent business acumen and commercial knowledge
• Ability to travel to operations in Africa
• Previous expat experience highly desirable
