Job Description:

Our client is seeking a farm manager to implement a sustainable Farm system for enhanced operations, as guided by  the client’s Sustainability Farm plan, metrics and goals. This position reports to the Operations Director, supervises the Farm projects, and will work closely with the Environment Superintendent & Farm team.



  • Drafting and executing all sustainable Farm systems and plans, budgeting and financial reporting for projects from start-to-finish, and all elements of the project conform to standards.
  • Supervision and Management of all Farm KPIs, metrics and reporting for Senior Management ensuring all KPIs are met on a monthly basis.
  • Proactively implement and monitor all systems and optimize production, revenue and maximum profitability.
  • Supervision of staff and handle various administrative tasks – prepare and manage budgets and financial reports, harvesting schedules, purchase supplies, maintain machinery, maintain relationships with vendors and clients.
  • Maintain and monitor the quality of yield (livestock and crops), animal and crop health and welfare.
  • Understand the implications of the weather and make contingency plans.
  • Handling the marketing and sale of products produced on the farm.
  • Prepare plans and schedules for planting and harvesting and ensuring staff understands expectations.
  • Analyzing existing operations, crops, livestock, staff, and financial documents and recommending improvements.
  • Track and manage approval processes, optimizing efficiency in moving projects forward.
  • Proactively identify value creation opportunities at the mine site.
  • Provide guidance, training and ensure operational excellence for the Farm team.
  • Identify operational risks and, in coordination with HoDs and relevant colleagues, work to proactively mitigate and address them.
  • Apply health and safety standards across the farm.
  • Protect the environment and maintaining biodiversity.

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Farm management, with a proven record of successfully managing Farm operations.  Executing Farm projects, preferably in the mining and agricultural industry.
  • Experience in both crop and livestock farming is preferred.
  • Completed Bachelor’s degree or higher in: Agriculture, Agronomy, or a related field.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
  • Management experience is an absolute requirement.
  • Financial management and reporting experience is vital for Farm’s viability.
  • Prior experience in systems architecture is preferred.
  • Prior cross-organizational capacity building experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Strong proficiency in relevant computing skills and software, including ArcGIS, HSE data platforms, and Excel.
