What industry do you work in and what exactly are your skills?

I work within the Mining Industry, and my skills are management of staff, skills administrative, good communications, management of software’s purchasing, logistics and material management, excellent interpersonal skills and team player.

Elaboration and management of budgets.

Organization of international events, use of strategies to get sponsors.

What inspired you to get into this sort of industry?

The mining industry as well as the oil industry is the most competitive in the world market generating millions of revenue, while allowing the person to be part of this market to develop and grow professionally.

What qualifications and experience did you have to gain in order to establish yourself and therefore become a professional within your industry?

My management skills have allowed me to grow in the Mining Industry. My chiefs saw me as a proactive person, able to make decisions, and resolve situations for myself. All of these skills helped me to have positions to work as a Direct Assistant of Field Area Managers.

What is the most challenging aspect within your field of work?

I am convinced that there is no problem that cannot be resolved, a good teamwork with the support of good management allows for goals to be achieved.

How do you manage and overcome these challenges?

It is important to work in a team and use the support offered by your Area Manager.

What has been the highlight of your career?

The fact that I have gained 13 years of work experience in the Mining Industry and have worked with international companies (Bechtel Corporation and Fluor Daniel) and a Peruvian company (Buenaventura mines). All my experience in administration management (costumer services, direct assistance with Field Area Managers, knowledge of software’s logistic, material management and elaboration and management of budgets. Also in charge of the arrival of the staff: local employers, expats, and visitors (travel, accommodation and others), business trips, travel of the assigned personnel: local and foreigners, allow me to grow professionally and develop my career as Coordinator Administrative and now looking for job opportunities at oil industry.

Who is your role model and why?

Myself. This is because I have gained vast experience in my career, and I feel confident that I have the ability to get good results for any company and the satisfaction that this will allow me to develop is incredibly rewarding.

What motivates you to work this hard?

The fact that I am a professional with the confidence and skill needed to achieve challenging objectives. Also, my personal projects that are the result of hard work have benefited me intensely.  

What is your outlook within your industry over the next 5 years?

I want to achieve the position of  General Manager of Administration or the other areas that I am skilled in –  procurement and logistic / human resources.

South Africa stands out as the largest gold producer in the world. The country is comprised of the richest gold resources compared to other countries with gold mines. Generally, about two thirds of the world’s total gold production comes from South Africa.
