What industry do you work in and what exactly are your skills?

 I have been working working in the Security Industry for the past 13 years and have until July 2013 been a Contract Security Manager. I have done various management  plus supervisory courses. My skills include management and customer service. I have vast experience within the safety and security sector and have attained courses linked to the following: introduction to samtrac,she rep functions and various other safety related courses.

What inspired you to get into this sort of industry?

I have always been passionate about safety and security and believed that I could make a difference in ensuring a safe workplace for each and everyone.

What qualifications and experience did you have to gain In order to establish yourself and therefore become  a professional  within your industry?

I’ve had to make a lot of sacrifices in order to establish myself. I am a go getter and take on each challenge that comes my way.I also had to learn to work together with all races and ethnic groups. You have to be goal  orientated and stay focused to reach the objectives and targets of a company.

What is the most challenging aspect within your field of work?

Having to get along with everyone and to make sure that everyone understands their role within the company,and to also  keep them motivated. A happy worker is a productive worker.

How do you manage and overcome these challenges?

To have an open door policy and be able to listen to problems and also have mutual respect for each other.

What has been the highlight of your career?

The fact that I was nominated company employee of the year in 2008 and also received various awards from the General manager for good work.

Who is your role model and why?

My father because he is a go getter and never lets anything get him down. He always manages to see the positivity in every situation,no matter how bad it is,and also the fact that he taught me that you have to work hard if you want to get somewhere in life.

What motivates you to work this hard?

I want to be successful in life,and also want to be an inspiration to others. I believe that your circumstances should not determine who you are and where you are going. You should set reachable goals for yourself.

What is your outlook within your industry over the next 5 years?

Probably to be part of senior management.

As you know, numerous African countries are being invested in due to their rich minerals. Which country within Africa do you think will be the next hot spot and why?                       

 Angola. A lot of investing and trading is taking place there due to their rich oil and gas reserves.
