1. What industry do you work in?

I work in the Mineral Processing & Operations industry. 

  1. What are your strengths?

Training plant operators, Supervision, Mentoring, Safety orientation, Control room Supervision, commissioning, ramp up to full production, Basic Engineering orientation, HIV& Aids Peer education

  1. What inspired you to get into this sort of industry?

Passion, determination to excel, and the love for achieving my goals is what inspired me to get into the industry.

  1. What is the most challenging aspect within your field of work?

To find people receptive and dedicated towards the new technology currently applied in the mining industry.

  1. How do you manage and overcome these challenges?

Train, train, train them and the colleagues around me. 

  1. What has been the highlight of your career?

Being part of the Kayelekera Uranium Mine project team who rebuild the Drying & Packaging plant after rare earth movements with the resources at hand which have saved the company a few million US$.

  1. If somebody starts as a trainee / beginner within your line of work, what could they earn in salary? 

I would say more or less US$85000-US$95000 per annum.

  1. What can this person expect to earn after +10 years of (processing plant) experience?

US$95000 – US$105000 per annum

  1. What advice can you offer people who are in the same industry as you?

My advice: Respect the people, laws, culture, religion of the particular country you are working in.

  2. Where in Africa have you worked before?

I have worked in Malawi, Mauritania and South Africa. 

  1. As you know, numerous African countries are being invested in due to their rich minerals. Which country within Africa do you think will be the next hot spot and why?

Personally I am open to working anywhere in Africa, I believe that Africa has a whole is filled with rich minerals.

I believe in Africa because it is evident that the continent comprises very good prospects and they are rapidly surfacing. Africa needs a lot of mining experts who can help to change the mining industry,by sharing knowledge and work together and because I am from Africa.
