I work in the Mining Industry in the production section and my skills are making profits through safe and productive means. My strengths are building people, computer literacy, in-depth planning, management and strategic thinking.

What inspired you to get into this sort of industry?

I am a strong team player and mining work requires  you to be strong minded as well as physically and spiritually strong. I welcome the challenges as it reminds me i’m a live and always keeps me on the move.

What qualifications and experience did you have to gain In order to establish yourself and therefore become a professional within your industry?

To start with, you must complete high school Passing a medical examination is another necessity.  

What is the most challenging aspect within your field of work?

Keeping people focused on the job at hand, having an excellent safety record, keeping colleagues excited about their work, meeting production targets belonging to the Mines Rescue Teams (Proto). I am convinced if you have been a Mine Overseer for at least 10 years, you can be classified as a trained practical psychologist.

How do you manage and overcome these challenges?

Being spiritually active really gives me energy and strength. Forme personally it is important to keep physically fit, read about my job and industry and the first to arrive at work and the last to leave.

What has been the highlight of your career?

Inventing tools for work, inventing and implementing standards for work, Mines Rescue Services (Proto). To date I have been blessed with a great safety record and great production performances.

If somebody starts as a trainee / beginner within your line of work, what could they earn in salary?

Basic salaries Monthly R15000-00 (miner)

What can this person expect to earn after 10 years of experience?

A package of between R20000-00 to R40000-00 depending on that individuals contract, and which company he works for nationally or internationally.

Who is your role model and why?

Jesus Christ – Works hard ,Knows his people ,highly profitable, full of energy ,only speaks the truth, never back stabs anybody, great motivator and when you need a miracle he is the man.

What motivates you to work this hard?

I 100%  enjoy what I do. This industry has built my character, it keeps my experience diversified and allows me to look after my family.

What is your outlook within your industry over the next 5 years?

Ii want to build my experience so that I can move up the ladder. It is my goal to supply millions of people with valuable and honest work. 

As you know, numerous African countries are being invested in due to their rich minerals. Which country within Africa do you think will be the next hot spot and why?

Actually every country in Africa – If Governments want to look after their people, then every country in Africa can live a prosperous life. It is a given.
